SUMMARY:Kick off to the Route 66 Centennial in Claremore!

Hwy 88\, Claremore\, OK  74017\n\nThe Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club welcomes you to celebrate the tradition of the “Wild Onion Feast”.   The tradition started many years ago.   The Cherokee people welcomed spring with the harvesting of wild onions after a long\, cold winter. Along with digging only enough Sassafras roots to boil for a special aromatic tea\, it was home you go to clean the wild onions\, gather eggs\, and prepare a feast.  This tradition has long been shared with family\, friends\, and neighbors\, bringing families and the community together. \nThis is an opportunity to listen to the voices of Cherokee language singers\, taste the goodness of scrambled eggs and wild onions\, and enjoy the gathering of community to celebrate new beginnings. \nThe Wild Onion Feast celebrates the beginning of Spring and the gathering of our Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club members together\, along with the community to raise money for our Higher Education Scholarship Program. \nDue to the popularity of the event\, reservations for seating are appreciated. Tickets are $30 each or a table of eight for $250.
