Experience the true magic of the holidays in Claremore

I love the holiday season in Claremore! From shopping and dining in historic downtown to taking a stroll through Claremore Lake Lights, there is something for everyone! Numerous events take place throughout December to get the community in the holiday spirit.

Those of you who attended the Christmas Parade last weekend may have noticed a special guest. Claremore played host to the Grinch as he walked along the parade route collecting cans for Share the Spirit Rogers County. Since 1987, Share the Spirit has ensured that none of our neighbors go hungry on Christmas. The organization annually provides around 700 Christmas dinner boxes to local families. Baskets contain traditional holiday foods, canned vegetables, and a frozen turkey or ham.

Every year, I am humbled and honored to witness the camaraderie and sense of community that comes from this incredible initiative. From food donations to the volunteers who assemble baskets, Share the Spirit highlights the very best of Rogers County. It is a good reminder of what makes the holidays truly magical, kindness for one another and a spirit of giving.

Share the Spirit baskets will be distributed on Friday, December 16. You can find more information on pick-up times, locations, and other important details on the Share the Spirit Rogers County Facebook page.

As you and your family celebrate this special time of year, do not forget to take advantage of the many events and activities located in your own backyard. The Claremore Lake Lights are back and feature new displays to enjoy. The lights begin at the Blue Starr Road entrance and multiple photo opportunities are available throughout the park. The lights will shine through January 6, 2023.

Visit Claremore is also hosting a Holiday Photo Contest to help you get in the spirit! Participants can highlight what makes Claremore unique during the holidays by tagging #WeAreClaremore on Instagram and Facebook. Submissions will be entered into a drawing to win a holiday gift basket and $250 toward a rental at 320 on Main.

A complete listing of holiday activities is available at visitclaremore.com/holidays/.

I wish you a wonderful Christmas season! Let’s keep the magic of the holidays going as we enter the new year!

Have a great weekend!
