Celebrate Independence Day in Claremore

Claremore’s Independence Day celebrations return this summer with fireworks, family activities and community traditions at Claremore Lake. The City of Claremore will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday, June 27, followed by the annual Kids Fishing Derby on July 4.

“The Fourth of July has always been about bringing people together,” said Claremore City Manager John Feary. “Whether you’re watching the fireworks, spending time at the lake or participating in the Fishing Derby, these traditions help make Claremore such a special place to call home.”

Fireworks Spectacular

Gates at Claremore Lake Park will open at 6 p.m. on June 27. The evening begins with a flag-raising ceremony by the Claremore Fire Department and the National Anthem at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music at 6:45 p.m. Concessions will be available near the Lake Ranger Office through 9:30 p.m.

The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will be launched from Cherry Point, north of the Lake Ranger Office.

To prepare for the event, roads within Claremore Lake Park will close beginning at 10 p.m. on June 24. Walking trails will remain open. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from Will Rogers Stampede Park, with limited handicap-accessible and motorcycle parking near the Lake Ranger Office.

For the safety of attendees, private fireworks, pets, alcoholic beverages and grills will not be permitted within Claremore Lake Park during the event. Boats, canoes and kayaks will also be prohibited on the water during the fireworks display.

New Fireworks Regulations Take Effect

Residents should be aware of updated fireworks regulations approved by the Claremore City Council on June 1. While permits are no longer required for most consumer fireworks use within city limits, all safety regulations remain in effect.

Consumer-grade (Class C 1.4G) fireworks may be used only on July 3, 4 and 5 between 12-11 p.m. Fireworks must be discharged from a non-combustible surface and located at least 25 feet from any permanent structure.

The use of fireworks on public streets, easements or other public property remains prohibited unless specifically approved by the City of Claremore Special Events Committee.

Events involving fireworks and gatherings of 25 or more people must still receive Special Events Committee approval. Residents planning such events should contact the City Clerk’s Office at (918) 341-1325, ext. 140.

Annual Kids Fishing Derby Returns July 4

The annual Kids Fishing Derby returns to Claremore Lake on July 4 and is open to children ages 4 to 12. Participants will compete in three age divisions: 4–6, 7–9 and 10–12.

Trophies will be awarded for the largest and smallest fish caught in each division, and bicycle giveaways and raffle drawings will follow each awards presentation.

Registration begins at 6 a.m., with fishing starting at 7 a.m. and weigh-in at 10 a.m. Participation is free, and children do not have to be Claremore residents to take part.
