Experts are warning that the cost of energy for U.S. households will increase this year. Energy Efficient Claremore was created as a resource to provide residents with tips and conservation methods to aid in conserving energy and lowering costs this summer.

Why are prices estimated to increase?
A recent report released by the Energy Information Administration predicted that home energy costs will rise because of supply chain issues, higher fuel prices and increased demand.
Conservation Tips
Below are a few easy measures to help practice simple energy conservation and reduce heating bills over the winter months:
Use your windows to keep out heat
- Install window coverings to prevent heat gain through your windows during the day.
Operate your thermostat efficiently
- Set your thermostat at a temperature you find comfortable. The smaller the difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your overall cooling cost.
- Keep your house warmer than normal when you are away, and lower the thermostat setting when you return home.
- Avoid setting your thermostat at a cooler setting than normal when you first turn on your air conditioner.
Use fans and ventilation strategies
- Turn off ceiling fans when you leave the room. Remember that fans cool people, not rooms, by creating a wind chill effect.
- When you shower or take a bath, use the bathroom fan to remove heat and humidity from your home.
- Make sure bathroom and kitchen fans are vented to the outside.
