Claremore Announces Inaugural Claremore Lake Light Display
Holiday event season begins this week with the tree lighting at Ne-Mar Shopping Center

Claremore, Okla. | November 17, 2021 – Claremore Lake will light up this holiday season! Starting Nov. 27, everyone will be able to enjoy a driving tour of Claremore Lake with holiday lights and decor illuminating the way.

“We are excited to begin what we hope will become an annual tradition for our community,” said John Feary, Claremore City Manager. “The City plans to continue adding lights each year, offering a unique experience with each visit.”

The event will kick off Nov. 27, in conjunction with the Light of Hope’s Illuminating Hope celebration at Claremore Lake, and run through Jan. 6, 2022. Lights will begin each night at dusk and remain on until 10 p.m. There is no cost to enjoy the Claremore Lake light display.

“This inaugural event was made possible by the efforts of the Claremore Parks and Recreation and Claremore Power and Light departments, said Feary. “Each team has dedicated many hours creatively building unique light displays. This event would not be possible without their efforts.”

The Claremore Lake lights will begin at the Blue Starr Road entrance and displays will be featured throughout the park. Multiple photo opportunities will be available, and visitors are encouraged to use the hashtag #claremorelakelights on social media to capture and share memories. The City sold some fixed assets and dedicated the funds to bringing the display to life for the community to enjoy.

Claremore will officially kick off the holiday season on Thursday, Nov. 18 with the annual Community Tree Lighting at Ne-Mar Shopping Center. The program begins at 6 p.m. and includes hot chocolate, cookies, live music and a very special visit from Santa Claus. There is no cost to attend the tree lighting, and the event is hosted by the City of Claremore, Ne-Mar owners Jonnie, Terrie and Steve Neely, Sherry and Ed Barstow, the United Way of Rogers and Mayes Counties and Light of Hope.
