Claremore City Councilor Debbie Long Announces Resignation

Claremore City Councilor Debbie Long announced her resignation from the Claremore City Council, effective Monday, January 24, 2022.  She has represented Ward I since March of 2021 and is leaving the Council for personal reasons.

The City Council will now focus on finding Long’s replacement. According to the City Charter, applicants must be residents of Ward 1 for at least 90 days, a resident inside the Claremore city limits for at least six months prior to filing and be a registered voter.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest to the Claremore City Clerk by 5 p.m. on February 14, 2022. This letter may be submitted in person, by mail, or emailed to ssharp@claremore.com and must include the individuals current address for verification purposes. The replacement will serve until the next regularly scheduled City Council election on the first Tuesday in April, 2023.

Applicants will be interviewed by the Council on February 22, 2022, and the selected individual will be sworn in on March 7, 2022.  Information on Ward I may be found here.
