The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), with support from the City of Claremore and Rogers County, has completed a $5.2 million repaving project on Lynn Riggs Boulevard, part of historic Route 66, that enhances one of our community’s busiest and most visible corridors. Claremore worked closely with ODOT and Rogers County over the past 18 months to prioritize and facilitate the project’s advancement, ensuring this important improvement became a reality.
Of the total project cost, $1 million was jointly funded by the City and County. In preparation for the repaving, Claremore’s Public Works Department rehabilitated storm inlets with new concrete collars, allowing ODOT to focus on roadway improvements and reduce costs associated with concrete work.
To limit disruptions to local traffic and nearby businesses, the majority of work was completed during evening hours. The result is a smoother, safer roadway that not only improves daily travel but also enhances a key entryway into Claremore.
This investment comes as the community looks ahead to the Route 66 Centennial in 2026, when travelers from across the country will celebrate the history and heritage of America’s most famous highway. We sincerely appreciate the partnership with ODOT and Rogers County in making this project possible.
