Claremore Police Department Raises Over $30,000 to Support Annual Shop with a Cop Program

The Claremore Police Department has successfully raised more than $30,000 through its annual No Shave November fundraiser, paving the way for a record-breaking year for its Shop with a Cop program. This initiative, which partners first responders with local children for a $100 holiday shopping spree, aims to make the season brighter for more kids than ever before.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 to 10 a.m., the Claremore Police Department will host a special shopping spree for local families at the Claremore Walmart.

In 2023, Shop with a Cop provided a memorable holiday experience for over 180 local children. This year, officers set an ambitious goal and have extended invitations to 320 kids to participate in the program. Children are selected for the program from Claremore Public Schools or through officer interactions during the year, providing a meaningful way to connect with families in need.

The fundraiser allowed officers to contribute $25 weekly, or $100 for the month, in exchange for relaxed grooming policies during November. Additional funds were raised through corporate sponsorships and community contributions. To add a fun competitive element, officers competed in categories such as Most Money Raised, Best Beard, and Worst Beard.

“The success of this initiative reflects the generosity of our citizens and corporate partners,” said Steve Cox, Claremore Police Chief. “This program not only supports local kids during the holiday season but also strengthens the bond between first responders and the community.”
