The City of Claremore Engineering Division includes the Engineering Department, the Stormwater Department and the Construction Department.
The Engineering Department is tasked with planning, design, permitting and inspection of all public infrastructure improvement projects. Many projects are designed in-house, but we also oversee design by multiple outside consultants as well as review and permit public infrastructure on private development projects. In-house staff utilize Computer Aided Drafting technology to design all types of infrastructure projects including streets, stormwater, water, electric and wastewater. Our project managers track project progress and complete all construction and contract administration duties. Staff inspectors also field inspect all construction projects ensuring compliance with approved plans and applicable local, state and federal regulations. Engineering also administers permits for driveways, street cuts, culvert replacements and right-of-way encroachments by franchise utilities.
The Stormwater Department administers the requirements of the OKR04 permit issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. This permit requires the city to conduct public outreach and education to help improve water quality throughout the city’s watershed area. Additional duties include investigation and enforcement of stormwater ordinances, construction site inspections and industrial and commercial facility inspections.
The Construction Department is tasked with construction of various in-house capital infrastructure projects. This department works with similar equipment and skills as heavy civil contractors. The department was created in 2020 as a way to reduce construction schedule, improve project quality and control costs on large capital improvement projects.
